exciting executive-level opportunity for a Senior Director, Tax -
Controversy & Policy, reporting to the VP, Tax. This role will be
responsible for PayPal's U.S. federal and state income tax
controversy matters (audits, appeals, litigation) reviewing
technical positions and defense strategy, serving as PayPal's
representative with the IRS and leading a team that interfaces with
personnel from all areas of the Company to collect and analyze data
necessary for audit defense. The role will coordinate and
collaborate with subject matter experts across the global tax team
on foreign controversy matters. This executive will be responsible
not only for audit defense, but for strategic input on current
initiatives to proactively mitigate future audit risk. This role
will also be responsible for monitoring U.S. tax proposals (as well
as global proposals including OECD BEPS/Pillars One & Two) and
working with subject matter experts across the global tax team to
determine the financial and operational impacts on PayPal. In this
respect, the executive will develop advocacy strategy in
coordination with the VP, Tax and work closely with PayPal's
Government Relations team to address PayPal's U.S. tax legislative
priorities. You, the ideal candidate, will have the personal drive,

direction and objectives for the function and develop a
comprehensive implementation plan.This is a highly visible position
with direct contact with PayPal management and business
leaders.Primary ResponsibilitiesActively manage PayPal's U.S.
income tax controversy matters, interfacing with the IRS and
working with other tax subject matter experts to develop audit
defense strategy.Partner with SMEs regarding foreign audits, ensure
consistency in approach between domestic and foreign audits, where
appropriate.Monitor U.S. tax proposals (as well as global proposals
including OECD BEPS/Pillars One & Two), work with tax subject
matter experts to determine the financial and operational impacts
on PayPal.Work closely with PayPal's Government Relations team to
address PayPal's U.S. tax legislative priorities.Establish strong
relationships, demonstrate organizational and interpersonal skills
to build a collaborative environment and foster open
communication.Interface with high level personnel throughout the
global organization.Provide leadership and proactive direction in
the areas of tax strategy, structure, planning and compliance.Shape
a culture of excellence, integrity, and accountability for a
growing controversy team.Interact effectively with PayPal finance
leaders, corporate partners, and members of the tax department. Job
Requirements15+ years of progressive tax experience in a fast
paced, high growth environment. Corporate tax department experience
required, financial services and/or technology industry experience
preferred.Tax planning and strategy experience preferred. Exposure
to international structures, business models, and global complexity
required.Experience partnering closely with all aspects of tax
management including U.S. federal income tax law, international
income tax law, state and local tax law, sales and use tax law,
SEC/FASB accounting rules and how those rules compare to tax
regulations in numerous jurisdictions.Excellent analytical and
problem-solving skills required, with the ability to plan and
execute at strategic and tactical levels.Excellent communication
and interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively relate tax
issues to non-tax personnel and especially skilled at communicating
with upper management.Ability to maintain productive work
partnerships and manage a high-performing team with a matured
approach to leadership and problem solving.Strong creative and
analytical thought process, and ability to work in a fast-paced
environment with excellent prioritization and organizational
skills.Organizationally savvy. Able to challenge the status quo
respectfully, and act as a catalyst within the organization.
Confident but personable individual, able to work collaboratively
inside and outside the tax department and build bridges at all
levels of the enterprise.A superior work ethic and dedication to
the highest work quality and job excellence.Proficiency with MS
Office, in particular, PowerPoint and ExcelA good sense of humor
Preferred Education J.D. required, MBA, LLM or Master's degree in
