        Job Summary

        The Fiscal Technician Senior in the Controller's office performs a variety of financial accounting transaction review. This role is responsible for reviewing and balancing cash summaries for all campuses for Maricopa Community Colleges. This role also provides support and guidance to the college Student Business Services offices for their daily cash summaries. Responsible for maintaining, verifying, and monitoring accounts, files, documents, and records. Provides Treasury related support and assistance to students and staff.

        Essential Functions

        60% - Process campus cash summaries - log, review, and balance cash summaries, run SIS and FMS reports for balancing, enter transactions into FMS, and email campuses for any discrepancies. Work with campuses to ensure all cash summaries are submitted in a timely manner in accordance with MCCCD policy and procedures.

        10% - Process miscellaneous checks on a weekly basis- log, scan, research, and email checks to other departments and/or campuses to obtain proper coding for deposit by month end in accordance with MCCCD cash handling policy and procedures.

        10% - Process all Nelnet related transactions into the Financial Management System (FMS). This involves pulling reports from Nelnet's Enterprise system to review, sort, and total by college. This also includes entering these transactions into FMS for Nelnet refunds/reversals, chargebacks, Payment Plan credit card adjustments, and international payments/refunds on a daily basis and all must be completed by month end for bank recon purposes.

        10% - Handle blue bag distribution and sort US mail - responsible for distributing the weekly blue bags from District office to each campus and sorting through any US mail received.

        10% - Bank related items - handles all NSF check returns which includes communication with campus and various departments and also entering accounting entries in FMS based on reports pulled from Maricopa's banking system, Chase ACCESS. Also handles the Petty cash logs received from each campus. All items must be completed by month end for bank recon purposes.

        Minimum Qualifications

        High School Diploma or GED and one year of related fiscal support experience.

        There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

        Desired Qualifications

        A. Two (2) or more years of experience providing Customer Service.

        B. One (1) or more years of experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) and PeopleSoft Financial Management System (FMS).

        C. Experience working in Higher Education setting.

        D. Experience with Fiscal Record keeping and file maintenance, demonstrated through prior work experience described in resume and/or cover letter.

        E. Experience working with Microsoft Excel, demonstrated through prior work experience described in resume and/or cover letter.
