Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an experienced
Guidance Navigation and Controls Engineer to join the team within
the Launch Vehicles business unit located in Chandler, AZ.
- The GNC Engineer will design, develop, implement, verify and
test algorithms, software, and simulation tools to perform
guidance, navigation and control of missiles, launch vehicles and
upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight,
earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well
as during staging events.
- Navigation functions include the statistical processing of
measured data points (e.g. Inertial Measurement Units, GPS,
altimeters, etc) and their substitution into algorithms estimating
- Guidance functions include the formulation of specific
equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in
- Control design and analyses processes consist of the
development of the control laws and hardware and software
requirements to ensure stable and robust flight.Essential Functions
- The successful candidate for this position will be responsible
for providing priority guidance, navigation and control technical
contributions for multiple programs at Northrop Grumman.
- Familiarity with rocket motor propelled vehicle trajectory
design and customer provided requirement analysis in a flight
software in simulation environment is a plus.
- Proven experience with autopilot and guidance algorithm design
and navigation and actuator subsystems is preferred.
- This position will leverage the candidate's excellent
communication skills to report program milestones and technical
approaches and findings to GNC and program management.Basic
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering
or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university
and 2 years of related experience, Master's Degree in a STEM
discipline and 0 years of related experience
- Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higherPreferred
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or
Electrical Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
