We are looking for a Director of Quality Assurance to grow our
In-Car Automotive business. We are a face-paced startup gaining
significant market traction in the wireless charging industry,
particularly in automotive with seven car companies engaged under

Position SummaryReporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the
Director of Quality Assurance works with Aira's executive team,
customers, Automotive Tier-1 partners, and Asian manufacturing base
to coordinate all aspects of the quality assurance, product
reliability, and certification processes in a customer-facing
role.
The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for all activities
including internal systems, in-coming quality, out-going quality,
product reliability, and validation/certification activities
required to meet industry-leading Automotive standards
(specifically, but not limited to IATF-16949, ISO-26262, PPAP and
FCC/CE standards). The individual will also provide direct
leadership to Aria's customers in relation to product qualification
and corrective action responses and will produce data and reports
on performance, and measurement against KPI metrics. The role must
work with all stakeholders to ensure that the QA and Reliability
system is operating effectively and efficiently. The individual
will build and execute changes required to the system and product
and will generate the associated tools and training to enable the
organization to achieve the highest levels of quality
assurance.
Responsibilities
- Lead all quality assurance, product reliability certification,
compliance, and performance improvement as determined by Automotive
customer requirements and best-in-class industry standards
- Develop and deploy the product quality assurance, product
reliability, and certification plan addressing all phases of
Automotive product development
- Lead customer meetings from the quality assurance and
reliability perspective, design and manage corrective actions and
solution plans to achieve the required quality in an expedited
manner appropriate to a start-up business
- Set QA compliance objectives and ensure that KPI targets are
achieved, reported, and communicated throughout the
organization
- Build and supervise quality assurance team, in Arizona, Asian
manufacturing locations (centralized in Manila), and customer sites
as needed, including the preparation and delivery of staff
performance and development activities
- Maintain awareness throughout the organization of best-in-class
Automotive-quality practices, and the success implications of
quality, including budgetary control issues
- Design and manage the execution of product and customer
validation and reliability plans
- Assess the product specifications in conjunction with
suppliers, manufacturing partners, and customers during the bid
process, and subsequently manage expectations
- Work with technical program and purchasing management to
determine applicable quality compliance with external manufacturers
and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with national and international quality,
environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Establish standards and clearly defined data analysis tools,
procedures, metrics, and reports for all staff
Qualifications
- 15+ years in quality assurance and product
validation/reliability management roles in the automotive industry,
with increasing responsibility over time
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and advanced quality training
and certifications in automotive
- Must be based at Aira's headquarters in Chandler AZ, with the
ability to travel quarterly to Aira's Asian manufacturing
locations
- Significant experience in hardware and software manufacturing
in electronic devices, preferably in both large and small
companies
- Broad experience working with Automotive OEM and Tier-1
customers
- Demonstrated experience with data-based problem solving and
reporting on the status of ongoing quality assurance, reliability
and product validation, corrective action resolution, and
compliance issues
- Demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced start-up or
new-venture environment with significant experience regarding risk
and time management
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in both large and small
groups with excellent presentation and cross-functional team
influence skill
- Motivation to support international business hours with
worldwide customers, and Asian supply-chain partners and
suppliers
- Must be self-driven and show initiative with exceptional
follow-up on active programs with multiple customers
- Proficiency with Atlassian Jira, Slack, and Wrike is desired,
with strong MS Office and program management/CRM/ERP tool
skills
- High proficiency with QS certification: IATF-16949, ISO-26262,
PPAP
- Must be proficient in communicating in English
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally: up to
20%
