Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Manager
Systems Engineering 1 - SEIT Department Manager to join our Systems
Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team within Launch Vehicles
business unit at the Chandler, AZ facility. The position will
report to the Senior Department Manager who oversees Systems
Engineers supporting several Targets programs as well as the System
Security Engineering/Cybersecurity function and personnel
supporting LV programs. Role Description and Responsibilities
(additional responsibilities may be assigned outside of this
list):
- Functional management of approximately 10-15 systems and/or
system security/cybersecurity engineers
- Time sheet approval
- Writing and conducting mid and end of year performance reviews
for direct reports
- Provide timely feedback and direction to direct reports
- Assess and communicate staffing needs on a monthly basis
- Management of department metrics
- Maintenance of Department processes, standards and command
media
- Training
- Onboarding New Hires
- Mentoring
- Provide Direct Systems or System Security Engineering support
to program(s)
- At least 50% of time will be in support of direct program
work
- Support program meetings and other direct charging as required
to provide technical oversight and team management
- Prepare the SEIT team for customer meetings and key
presentations
- Represent the SEIT department in key program meetings,
verifying that the approach abides by department standards and
expectations
- Technical Oversight / Leadership
- Provide technical oversight by reviewing key SEIT products,
analyses and models for compliance to department standards, good
engineering practice and compliance to customer requirements and
expectations.
- Provide technical leadership and resource management to ensure
timely resolution of issues impacting launch vehicle design and
verification.
- Help resolve complex technical issues related to systems
engineering and/or system security engineering, including any
required failure analysis and corrective action
- Prepare periodic technical reports and presentations for senior
management to document current status, corrective action (if
required) and go forward plans
- Support or manage Independent Design Reviews
- Provide leadership and management of systems engineering and/or
system security engineering activities as required by the
department or program The ideal candidate is capable of creating
and managing high performing teams while providing technical,
administrative and management expertise in the day to day
activities required to successfully execute complex engineering
programs. Basic Qualifications
- Requires: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with
Masters; 0 Years with PhD
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Aerospace experience
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Active Secret Security Clearance is required
- Ability to travel is required Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of systems engineering experience is preferred
- Program execution experience is strongly preferred
- A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems
Engineering fundamentals is desired
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience is
preferred.
- Experience managing an engineering team is preferred
- Experience with Earned Value Management System and managing a
Cost Account is preferred
- Currently possess or ability to obtain the DoD 8570-M
Certifications (Security+, CISSP, etc.)
- Experience ensuring system security needs are established and
maintained for operations development, security requirements
definition, security risk assessment, system analysis, system
design, security test and evaluation, certification and
accreditation is desired
- Experience writing Cybersecurity related plans, procedures, and
artifacts is desired
- Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira Salary Range:
$103,300 USD - $154,900 USD Employees may be eligible for a
discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are
designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow
employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President
or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In
