Job Description:

The Director of Academics will perform administrative duties and assist in the supervision and management of instructional staff. The administrative duties performed will be guided by the Executive Director of Academics. The Director of Academics will assist in day to day school operations, including but not limited to; supervision of instructional staff and Teachers on Assignment, working with parents, students and teachers on issues that may arise, as well as serve as a liaison between teachers and administration.
Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative duties as directed by the Executive Director of Academics
  • Primarily responsible for providing daily support to the educational program and learning environment by ensuring that the educational policies and procedures are implemented and evaluated
  • Provide supervision and evaluation of instructional staff, department chairs, and teachers on assignment
  • Assists in implementing instructional strategies, including supporting the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques for improvement of instruction
  • Use multiple sources of data to assess student progress and school improvement
  • Coordinate with department chairs to ensure implementation of Professional Learning Communities/Collaborative Teams according to PLC definitions and established parameters
  • Monitor and verify PLC/collaborative team meetings with set agendas and protocols
  • Assist the Executive Director in the transformation of the school culture into a results-oriented collaborative learning community
  • Assist the Executive Director with state reporting and accountability measures
  • Assist with overseeing state and benchmark testing
  • Facilitate Multi-Tiered System of Supports for students of all academic achievement levels within a specific pathway
  • Provide support for the Child Find Process and facilitate weekly student intervention team meetings
  • Collaborate with special programs to ensure all students are provided with appropriate supports, accommodations, and modifications in accordance with student IEP and 504 plans, as well as relevant legislation
  • Collaborate with leadership team, department chairs, and teachers to develop, monitor and adjust interventions and advancement structures and strategies that meet the academic needs of the students
  • Assist with the development of the master schedule of course offerings and staffing through collaboration with administration
  • Implement discipline procedures. Develop innovative strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive plans for students who exhibit at-risk behaviors.
  • Assist in working with students, parents, and teachers on issues related to student performance, student behavioral issues, instructional methodologies, and parent concerns
  • Supports teachers to resolve differences in communication with parents and students
  • Assist school administration in the areas of talent management, emergency procedures, adjunct scheduling, and overall school operations
  • Assist with coordination of outside professional learning, coaching, and support for teachers
  • Assists in the orientation of new staff members to the teaching environment, especially as it relates to the area of students, personnel policy, and procedures
  • Approves and coordinates staff days off and works with the teacher on assignment to ensure classroom coverage and/or arrange for a substitute
  • Works in conjunction with Executive Director in supervising all school activities, i.e., field trips, prom, graduation, and other special events
  • Supports school safety initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned Education/Training:
    • 2-5 years previous experience in educational administration or similar role.
    • Highly qualified or certified in subject area
    • Arizona Principal or School Administration certification preferred
    • Current valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
    • Teaching and/or leadership experience in a k-8 environment preferred
    • Experience in online education preferred
    • Must be able to work onsite in Chandler, AZ
