Job Description:

SUMMARY:Provides medical nutrition therapy and plans nutritional plans for patients with diabetes and other medical conditions. Organizes and teaches classes related to diabetes and weight management. Collaborates with and refers to other members of the health care team to promote optimal patient outcomes.Open positions: 6 (5 / Full-Time ) & (1 / Part-Time Day Shift: 2 up to 3 days a week)CRITICAL TASKS:

• Provides comprehensive and specialized nutritional support to patients with complex treatment and diagnostic needs.
• Develops nutrition plans and implements interventions based on knowledge of patient's current health.
• Assists with development of objectives of care, education, standards of practice, and programs to assess outcomes of diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Participates in the development of policies and programs directed toward patient and family education.
• Completes monthly, quarterly, and yearly assessments of clients and adapts nutrition plans as needed.
• Implements personalized, age-specific, and culturally appropriate nutrition strategies.
• Delivers client nutrition recommendations to physicians, nurses, and aides concerning patient treatment plans, established practices, policies, and procedures.
• Completes diet histories for nutritional assessment on specific patients.
• Documents patient progress and share with healthcare professionals.
• Provides nutrition education and counseling for patients.
• Participates in the development of policies and programs directed toward patient and family education.
• Maintains and updates patient's medical records through concise, accurate, and timely documentation.
• Provides substitutions if patient is unable to consume meals provided, in accordance with diet restrictions.
• Computes nutritional value of recipes when necessary.
• Performs other job-related activities as requested.REQUIRED QULIFIATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a closely related field of study required.
  • Completion of an approved hospital dietetics internship program or equivalent required.
  • Registered Dietician with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Current and valid Registered Dietician license.
  • 1 year of experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietician required.
  • Prior experience as Pediatric Registered Dietician preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community or other Native American cultures and community health services.
