Pay Information $2,070 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 hours Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience within the past 6 months License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Telemetry experience is required. - Ability to read strips and titrate medications such as Amiodarone and Cardizem. - Willingness to float to telemetry units. Description: This position requires telemetry experience. The candidate cannot live within 50 miles of the facility. A current driver's license must be provided upon application. Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to starting, with a maximum of 2 attempts. The exam must be completed within 48 hours of receiving the offer. Failure to pass will result in a 6-month do-not-use status. There is also a pass/fail simulation lab on the first day of orientation. Failure to pass will also result in a 6-month do-not-use status. The unit typically has a ratio of 1:4 for days and nights. A charge nurse is present but does not take patients. Nurse aides are available during days, while 1 PCT or task RN is assigned at night. The weekend requirement includes 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks. One major and minor holiday shift is also required. Common diagnoses include 80% surgical and 20% oncology patients. The unit performs 8-10 elective knee and hip surgeries each week. Other surgical cases may include urological and abdominal surgeries. The facility has central monitoring for telemetry and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services. A house SWAT nurse is available for difficult IV accesses. The candidate will undergo 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation.
