ability to read cardiac strips, ability to titrate down Amiodarone
and Cardizem Description: This position requires tele experience.
Candidates cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility. Minimum
of 2 years of recent experience is required. Travelers must pass a
dysrhythmia exam prior to starting, with a maximum of 2 attempts
allowed within 48 hours of the offer. If they fail, they will be
marked as do not use for 6 months. There is also a pass/fail
simulation lab on the first day of orientation. Failure in the
simulation lab will also result in a do not use status for 6
months. Candidates must be able to read cardiac strips and will
float to tele units as needed. The unit consists of 32 beds,
focusing on orthopedic, surgical, and oncology patients. The
nurse-patient ratio is 1:4 for days and nights. Charge nurses do
not take patients and are supported by unit supervisors. Patient
care technicians are available during the day shifts, with one
technician or task RN at night. Weekend requirements include four
weekend shifts in a four-week period. One major and one minor
holiday shift is also required. Scrub color is navy. Central
monitoring is available with GE monitors, and there is a dedicated
tech for monitoring. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are
available 24/7. Common diagnoses include surgical and oncology
cases, with elective orthopedic surgeries performed weekly.
Additional notes include the use of spectralink phones for enhanced
communication. Cancellation policy allows the facility to cancel up
to 4 shifts for a 13-week assignment.
