Neuroendovascular Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Operating

Provides peri-procedural nursing care for patients undergoing
invasive, image-guided procedures in the cardiac catheterization
lab, hybrid OR, and/or interventional radiology suite. Combines
direct patient care ( pre/intra/post-procedure ) with procedural
assistance ( scrub/circulating roles as appropriate), monitoring,
medication administration (including contrast and vasoactive
infusions ), coordination to support safe, efficient patient flow
for elective and emergent cases. Perform thorough pre-procedure
assessments , verify consent and NPO status, confirm allergies
(contrast, medications), and implement appropriate premedication or
contrast safety protocols. Provide i ntra-procedure nursing care:
monitor hemodynamics , administer medications/contrast/infusions,
manage lines and vascular access , assist with sedation/analgesia
in collaboration with anesthesia or procedural sedation protocols.
Function as scrub RN or circulating RN as case needs dictate.
Assist with sterile setup, device handling, instrument passing, and
counts when applicable. Operate and troubleshoot basic procedural
monitors and infusion pumps ; collaborate with imaging
technologists on fluoroscopy positioning and radiation safety.
Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing,
evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken
and patient responses. Coordinates patients care through
collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team. Performs
assessments as per unit standards and documents on appropriate data
base/assessment flow sheet. Initiates, utilizes and documents
appropriate protocols and standards of care. Administers medication
and treatments as prescribed by physician, or protocols and
documents according to policy. Identifies and meets patient and
family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout
episode of care. Evaluates patient progression toward outcomes per
unit policies and documents through EOSS etc. Performs competently
in emergency situations. Delegates or assigns aspects of patient
care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated
competency to perform the task. Assumes responsibility for the
clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
Provides leadership through communication about and validation of
patient care. Assists with various procedures, treatments, surgical
techniques or assigns to other healthcare team members as
appropriate. Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure
and protocol education and competency testing per unit policy.
Demonstrates competency in required psychomotor skills. Assists in
orientation of new staff or students and serve as a resource person
and professional role model. Assumes professional responsibility
for current nursing structure, nursing guidelines of care, and
policies. Incorporates PHS mission (VVPS) in care-giving
activities. Supports DON philosophies of professional governance
and models of care delivery. Assumes other leadership roles (i.e.
relief charge nurse) as required by the department. Meets
professional requirements as follows: A. In-service requirements:
1. Age-specific training (care giving, treatment, assessments
specific to the age of populations served). 2. Mandatory yearly
in-service to include BLS, safety training, bloodborne
pathogen/infection/respiratory fit testing training. B. Performance
Standards: 1. Participates in unit/department governance. 2.
Adheres to PHS dress code for professionals, including display of
ID badge. 3. Documents own continuing education. 4. Maintains
positive communication and relationships with patients, peers and
other healthcare team members. 5. Participates in quality
improvement activities. 6. Maintains a punctual and reliable
attendance record. 7. Completes mandatory in-services, competencies
and licensure requirements on time. 8. Adheres to safety and
equipment policies. Performs other functions as required.
Qualifications: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing
License Minimum of Associates Degree in Nursing Required BLS
certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or Red Cross
ACLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or Red
Cross PALS certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or
Red Cross One (1) year of CVL and or Operating Room experience
