GM Vehicle Diagnostics Software manages the authoring of diagnostic instruction-set across GM vehicles, along with diagnostic message communication with all the vehicle ECUs. The software is used by technicians, across the globe, at GM dealerships and in the aftermarket space. You'll work on the next generation Vehicle Diagnostics Authoring, Smart Fault Management and OTA (Over the Air) diagnostic capabilities. You'll be working on developing, testing and releasing SW components that will leverage Machine Learning, Model-Based-Diagnostic and various Artificial Intelligence based techniques, that will be provide 'smart', vehicle specific diagnostic and repair recommendations to the service technicians. RESPONSIBILITIES: * This Diagnostics Software Engineer will be able to handle Vehicle Diagnostic communication, design and develop Over-the-Air (OTA) capability to update communication interfaces at the dealership * Help design and implement Next-Gen diagnostic authoring instruction-set, applying distributed storage and compute technologies to scale the authoring and distribution * Work with System architects and System Engineers to build intelligent diagnostic capabilities, taking previous repair along with various data sets into account and leveraging machine learning algorithms and techniques * Work with ECU supplier and product development engineers to help design vehicle-wide simulation software, to help accelerate diagnostic authoring verification * Support launch and pilot activities at various dealerships, gain feedback and make improvements to the systems * Develop software in C/C++, Java, Python, graph databases, and various open source machine learning packages. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Participate in the development of requirements, innovative subsystems and system level designs as well as production software. * Work with General Motors business leads and engineering specialists to identify capture and refine system requirements. * Coordinate and participate in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test case reviews. * Leads and generates technical solutions including specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development and testing for current, new and major programs ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION Qualifications: * Software Development experience * 10+ years in designing and developing system level services * Embedded Software Development experience highly desired * Excellent programming and debugging skills with C, C++, and Java * Experience with scripting languages such as shell, Python * Working knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process * In depth experience with CICD, tools such Azure DevOps * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree.
