The Ground System Developer III will gain experience in software development and maintenance for the following areas:

• Iridium Ground Control Software and supporting applications
• Iridium Satellite Data Products packaging applicationsAdditionally, the Ground System Developer III will work independently to deliver high-quality work and drive projects and deliverables to completion to support all areas of software development within the Satellite Operations and Engineering Development teams.What You'll Do:
  • Develop new and update existing Iridium processes for Change Control, Prioritization, Risk Management, COTS Management, Build and Test software deployments and uses knowledge to assist in development of process/procedure documentation materials
  • Work with team members to develop optimized code for both scalability and performance
  • Work within the Agile/Scrum framework for SW development (Atlassian tool suite desired)
  • Create or maintain build environments for SW products (including transitioning the L3/Harris InControl software and build environment to Iridium)
  • Work within team objectives to plan and execute software releases per stakeholder/program schedules and budgets
  • Update issue/feature data in Atlassian Project/Software tracking tools
  • Present deliverables or analysis and answer questions within scope from stakeholders
  • Create, edit, structure and present data, concepts and arguments clearly and succinctly, through briefings and documentation
  • Develop a depth of knowledge of InControl (Satellite Control Software), Iridium's custom Data Repository/Retrieval system and Iridium's custom System Control SWWhat You'll Need to Succeed:
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present information to team members
    • An analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with solutions
    • Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
    • The ability to establish valuable relationships with team members and managers
    • The ability to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
    • Proactivity in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge, including the ability to learn the different software that make up the System Performance and Analysis software
    • Ability to comprehend technical documentation
    • Have a positive attitude to take on ever increasing S/W development tasks.
    • Passion for working in a team driven environment consisting of operators, SW testers, senior developers, and system engineers.
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, or related engineering discipline
    • 5+ years' software programming experience
    • Experience with the following technologies is strongly desired:
    • Java / Java Script / Python
    • JSON / XML
    • Node.js / Apache Web Server
    • Working knowledge or willingness to learn the following technologies is desired:
    • Perl / C++
    • SQL
    • MongoDB and MySQL
    • RESTful / HTTP / ActiveMQ /OpenMQ
    • Knowledge and/or willingness to learn Atlassian management software suite: Jira / Git / Bitbucket / Crucible / Bamboo / ConfluenceWe'll Also Need You To:
