Job Summary:


Will learn and handle basic programming tasks, progressing to more advanced tasks over time. These will center around a proprietary system running a modified version of Java. Downloading those changes to the systems and testing. Familiarity with electrical components and troubleshooting is a plus. Familiarity with ASP.NET, C#, Access, SharePoint, a plus.

* Adoption of site specific naming conventions and best practices.

* Interfacing with the customer, showing the changes made to the code and explaining how they will modify their systems.

* New Build

* Learning to read and understand blueprints,

* Convert design documents into a logical program that can be integrated to the site network.

* Test and troubleshoot the system internally

* Complete final testing with the system owners.

The systems we are programming exist in the real world. It contains sensors which detect and monitor the premises, appliances that react to the readings from those sensors. There are currently thousands of lines of existing code, we have to add to and modify without impacting the existing system. There can be no flaws in our coding, and it is thoroughly review prior to being deployed. There are tens of thousands of devices connected to the systems all of which act or react in some way base on input data and coding.

We are looking for someone with strong fundamentals of coding that we can train to support these projects. We need someone who is driven, motivate, willing to learn and adapt. Will require work in the field testing and troubleshooting devices in addition to work on a computer coding.


Physical and Mental Requirements:

* Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and present a professional image.

* Must possess critical thinking skills as well the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).

* Must be able to act as the company liaison for the interface with customer representative(s).

* Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other service documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.

* Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

* Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds


* Tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves.

* Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

* Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.

* Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and demonstrate the ability to supervise others.

* Must have demonstrated ability to work with and communicate directly with customers and end users.

* Work independently or as a team member.

* Able to lead a team and train co-workers.

* Must be able to read prints, understand and apply customer specifications

* Possess good troubleshooting and communications skills, be computer literate and have a clean driving record.

* Must have Fire Alarm System hand tools including multi meter and be able to use these tools effectively.
