The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company. The Operational Risk Associate role is on the Regulatory Program Governance & Oversight team, within the Operational Risk Transformation Office for the Operational Risk Group. There are three positions available.The position is responsible for providing enterprise-wide oversight and governance of several integrated operational risk program workstreams within the Operational Risk Transformation Office (ORTO). Responsible for assisting in developing and driving innovative operational risk approaches and solutions across the enterprise through an influence model. Provide support to the leadership team and will have accountability for several critical path foundational transformational efforts that align with company goals and regulatory feedback, including consent orders and Matters Requiring Attention. Supports the management and tracking of the execution activities for key operational risk initiatives including core transformation efforts aligning to corporate goals. This position will help the team implement key initiatives in support of the program roadmap, and will work with our enterprise and business partners to ensure that the operational risk capabilities developed are executed consistently across the company.Specific roles and responsibilities include:

  • Acts in support of the ORTO team liaisons to the business groups and virtual teams across the organization to lead the delivery of enterprise-wide business transformations around operational risk practices. Participates in the development and execution of strategies to enhance the adoption of the enterprise transformation and align critical partners to support the target state.
  • Identifies and documents the risks and issues, working with the key stakeholders to develop the risk mitigation/elimination plan.
  • Supports the work stream owners and deliverable leads by helping to plan, track, and monitor key operational risk initiatives in alignment with the target state.
  • Provides dedicated support to update work stream operating plans, managing to tight deadlines and deliverable dates.
  • Executes routine program protocols, in partnership with the Corporate Risk Project Management Office. Works with the work stream owners and deliverable leads to ensure status updates, risks, and issues are clearly articulated, documented and understood. Addresses/escalates deliverables that may be past due or at risk, and works on the path to green with the key stakeholders.
  • Supports the presentation of risks and issues in the weekly update meetings and addresses questions or concerns, including scheduling subsequent follow-up meetings with key partners.
  • Maintains risks and issues log and drives closure.
  • Liaises with work streams to ensure reporting is consistent and delivered in a timely manner, adhering to tight deadlines and milestone dates.
  • Coordinates with appropriate teams to ensure collection of artifacts that support the resubmission and individual work stream operating plans are properly archived.
  • Captures and maintains ORTO team process documentation.Required Qualifications
    • 2+ years of experience in risk (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management demonstrated through work or military) or 1+ year in the foregoing or financial services industry and a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field Desired Qualifications
      • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
      • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Project) skills
      • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
      • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
      • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner Other Desired Qualifications
        • Experience supporting or managing Operational Risk Events or Issues Management.
        • Experience providing advice to improve risk management and internal controls.
        • Ability to influence without direct authority, create and manage (while achieving results) large-scale change and influence people at all levels of the organization.
        • Experience documentation and tracking artifacts
        • Experience with change management
        • Experience with MS Project
        • Demonstrated ability to execute effectively in a matrixed organization, develop partnerships with many business and functional areas.
        • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including management and internal auditors.
        • Audit, Risk and/or regulatory compliance experience.
        • Background in financial services.
        • Highly resourceful and agile.
        • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, professionally, timely, and in context, to engage partners and stakeholders.
        • Strong facilitations skills with the ability to interact effectively with a variety of contacts, to include virtual leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in geographically dispersed environments.
        • Strong project management skills.
        • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage processes, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and prioritize effectively.
        • Ability to problem solve and drive business results with excellent judgment and decision making capability.
        • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
