Northrop Grumman Space Sector is searching for an experienced Sr.
Principal Engineer Systems to join the Systems Engineering
Integration & Test Development Team within Launch Vehicles business
unit located in Chandler, AZ to support business development
The Sr Princ. Systems Engineer will focus all efforts to supporting
incoming requests for proposals for the Business Development
The candidate will perform Systems Engineering based analyses of
supporting documents/requirements which will require the candidate
to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
The candidate should possess strong technical problem solving,
written and verbal communication skills to generate and document
system level launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle
performance assessments and participate in system level
verification/data review activities pertaining to proposal
Regular interface with program management, engineering staff and
external customers is expected.
The candidate is expected to provide independent systems
engineering support leading proposal efforts parsing out all
requirements for the proposal to the appropriate discipline and
following up on successful completion of all disciplines
submissions to ensure requirements are met.
The candidate will be a team player working with all disciplines
and BD leadership to foster a collaborative environment.
The candidate should be willing to occasionally work during odd
hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (>
40 hrs/wk) to meet deadlines.
The candidate should possess a strong resolve to drive tasks to
completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training
The candidate will be required to travel domestically on a periodic
Creates and modifies management tracking reports for a variety of
systems engineering performance parameters, resource metrics and
Provides data and support risk management as it pertains to
Provides costing support for proposal submissions.
Supports creation of system architectures(s), system physical views
- system elements (blocks) and critical interfaces (internal and
external) to a level of maturity to meet proposal requirements.
Presents and prepares materials for presentation for proposal
Supports trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design
optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design
assessments, Operations Analysis work such as mission analysis and
timelines and CONOPS development as appropriate.
- Requires BS in Engineering & 9 years or Masters in Engineering
& 7 years or PhD & 4 years.
- Candidate must hold a DoD Secret level security clearance or be
eligible to obtain a clearance which generally requires US
Citizenship as a prerequisite.
- Ability to travel is required Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems
Engineering fundamentals is desired.
- Experience with Northrop Grumman Space Systems LVBU Systems
Engineering standards/guidelines and expectations is desired.
- Experience with external customer interfacing (meetings,
presentation, negotiation) is desired.
- System testing and launch operations experience is
- Model Based Systems Engineering experience is desired
- Model Center experience is desired
- Cameo Systems Modeler experience is desired
