With our competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, we have the right opportunities to fit your life and launch your career today.The Mechanical Engineering group is hiring for a Manager Aeronautical Engineering 2 in our Mechanical Engineering team within the Launch Vehicles Business Unit at our Chandler, AZ facility.The Manager Aeronautical Engineering 2 will be responsible for managing technical, schedule, cost, as well as Mechanical Engineering resources.. This includes identifying and addressing program risks to ensure launch success, facilitating technical solutions based on heritage and similar vehicles, tracking the program schedule, and performing CAM duties.Essential Functions:Utilize mechanical design and integration activities, as well as strong leadership skillsLead by example, ensure proper cross-training of the team, and make sure the team understands the requirements of the Program and how they relate to the individual tasks that are being assigned to the team. This also includes having periodic meetings with the team to review the ME performance relative to the Program scheduleWith little to no guidance, performs analysis, design, or test of one or more complex materials, structural components or functional systems.Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designsBased on broadly defined problems, studies basic design concepts and criteria for complex materials, components, or functional systems and applies the engineering principles involved to develop new designsAnticipates customer needs and finds innovative ways to provide for those needsOriginates and develops constructive ideas. Consistently looks for ways to modify or change existing methods or processes to improve outcomesPerform highly complex engineering design, development, analysis, and test activities to support assigned projectsDetermine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution; Analyze project requirements and develop detailed planning, conceptual designs, and risk analysisAssume CAM responsibilities and EVMS ReportingInteract with internal and external customers; Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systemsProvide technical guidance and direction to engineering team in the design, test, production, and maintenance phases of a projectDevelop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customersSupport new business and prepare proposal materialBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 9 years related engineering experience, or a Master's in STEM and 7 years related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 years related engineering experienceAbility to travel 25% is requiredLaunch campaign field support is required at remote sitePreferred Qualifications:Master's or PhD in STEM Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degreeDemonstrated experience supporting integration / testing of flight hardware and oversight of technician work tasking is strongly desiredActive DOD Secret security clearance or higherSalary Range: $123,900 USD - $185,900 USDEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
