ABOUT Doughnut Peddler:The Doughnut Peddler is a 30-year-old company with the corporate offices based out of Chandler, Arizona. Under new ownership, The Doughnut Peddler has expanded rapidly into four new markets in the last five years, supplying fresh-baked items from coast-to-coast across the southern US and closely partnering with some of the nation's largest convenience and quick-service restaurant chains.
Job Description:The Manager of Planning and Procurement will own procurement and procurement strategy for all ingredients and packaging and will partner with Operations to ensure ingredient and packaging inventory to maintain production. This role will also partner with Quality and Food Safety on supplier management/approval and Product Development in finding ingredients and suppliers that support innovation.
Major Responsibilities: - - - - - - -Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct purchasing strategies and tactics for ingredients and packaging. - - - - - - -Develop category specific insights that enable quality, continuity, and price protection. - - - - - - -Develops or improves upon strategies and tools to assess pricing and risk in non-commodity markets - - - - - - -Support long-range planning, including developing and maintaining a robust pipeline of opportunities for: total cost, quality improvement, waste reduction/sustainability and overall risk reduction. - - - - - - -Owns vendor relationships by leading the purchasing function and managing the request for proposal/contracting process. Effectively negotiate price, terms, and performance. - - - - - - -Establish, monitor, and evaluate supplier performance to assure compliance with company requirements, regulatory, quality specifications, label requirements and third-party audit expectations. - - - - - - -Establish credibility throughout the organization and with external key partners as a balanced and effective problem solver to realize win-win opportunities and anticipate/address challenges - - - - - - -Provide technical knowledge to cross functional departments, develop strong technical knowledge of materials and markets where needed. - - - - - - -Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making in purchasing category. - - - - - - -Actively partner in category inventory strategies and management of stock/risk for cashflow, continuity, and space needs across 5 bakeries. - - - - - - -Support Quality and Product Development in identifying, communicating with, and developing with suppliers. - - - - - - -Travel

  • Interfaces with Operations, Customer Fulfillment, Sales, Transportation, Quality Assurance, Product Development, etc. to be able to support daily production at 5 bakeries
  • Must be proficient and a power user in both ERP and Excel systems to utilize them effectively to manage the finite scheduling process.
    Basic Position Requirements:
    • BS in Finance and MBA preferred
    • 5+ years working in planning, supply chain, and procurement management roles
    • Demonstrated success in developing and executing procurement strategy
    • Knowledge of raw materials, productions processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
    • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with both office and manufacturing personnel
      Critical Skills:
      • Demonstrated experience buying commodities, researching markets, and leveraging hedging tools to protect price.
      • Demonstrated experience buying non-commodity ingredients, where market information, specification clarity and breadth of options are more limited.
      • Demonstrated technical sourcing experience in support of new product innovation.
      • Demonstrated category and negotiation strategy development for strategic partners (win-win)
      • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop business cases and apply total delivered cost and cost in use models to decision making.
      • Effective communicator for various audiences and needs, with the ability to clearly articulate complex topics.
      • Strong command of ERP tools as an everyday user, with understanding of data management principles and how applied
      • Proficient in Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and Power Point.
